It is an understatement to say that weddings have changed a lot over the last few decades. From a simple quick celebration at the local church to a full blown three day destination wedding with a lot of fun, activities, food and entertainment. The scale of weddings has increased exponentially.
It is true that weddings are a celebration of love, and often more then not, an occasion for an epic and unforgettable 3 day party with all your family and friends.
Here is the breakdown of our Dubai couple, Dimple and Roel’s three day destination wedding extravaganza.
Day 1: The welcome party
The first day started off with guests arrivals and check-ins at the Arabella Hotel and Spa. In which each guest bedroom a welcome package awaited with a full program of the 3 day wedding, dress code and times of each event.
The wedding activities started of with pre-drinks on the golf course with a wine tasting experience for the guests.
After pre-drinks the reception awaited with a romantic setup of wooden tables, leafy runners and candles. Over each guest table were hanging centrepieces of greenery and glass balls with t-light candles. The guests enjoyed local foods from South Africa, a lovely buffet setup with “braai” (BBQ) meats and dishes. We placed a welcome sign at every event so that the guests knew where to go. A specially designed guest book was allocated for every day so that guests could write something special for the couple.
During the course of the evening a live band kept the guests entertained. After dinner there was a few welcome speeches and then the real afterparty kicked off with a fantastic DJ.
Day 2: The wedding day
The entire bridal party got dressed and ready in their beautiful suites at Arabella Hotel and Spa, while enjoying the scenic views over the lagoon. The wedding took place off-site at Cavalli Estate in Cape Town, so we made transport arrangements for the guests and bridal couple in mini luxury busses to their new destination.
The bride made an entrance on a horse carriage with her jaw dropping dress from WONA Concept. . The entire day was perfect with a beautiful ceremony and backdrop of the mountains and dam at Cavalli estate. Guests could find their seat on the champagne wall while enjoying a glass of refreshing bubbly and delicious canapés. Live entertainment performed by Acoustic element kept the overall mood happy and cheerful. More fun activities awaited the guests as the couple started the champagne tower and also cut their wedding cake as part of the cocktail hour.
Our lovely bride simply loves glitter and everything shiny. We drew inspiration through this and designed beautiful guest tables with navy sequence tablecloths, rose gold candelabras and small flower arrangements to create a petite but glamorous table setting. The bridal couple performed a choreographed first dance on an epic LED lit black dance floor followed by another surprise dance by the bride’s family.
Day 3: The hangover brunch and pool party
The plan was to take it easy and arrange something that will get the guests out of their hotel rooms and outside enjoying the last day with the couple. So what is better to celebrate the last day than a pool party?
The theme was all-white with white gazebos and furniture from pool chairs, food stations, drink stations and a hangover shot. We brought out some water guns and then the fun really began. All in all a perfect end to a 3 day destination wedding.
